Our caring service allows our elderly clients to maintain as much independence as possible by providing the appropriate in-home assistance and companionship, lifting the spirits of both the elderly and the family caregivers as well.

The journey to Sunlight Senior Care began with the medical products industry. We all remember grandpa’s knees getting bad, so he had to use a cane. Or grandma’s need to take her blood sugar so she wouldn’t faint. In providing needed medical equipment and products, we built strong relationships among caregivers, providers, and seniors in the community.

Yet, when their loved ones needed in-home care, our founders were disappointed with the available care options. They began envisioning a better senior care experience.

It would start by developing a mutually agreed upon care plan tailored to the individual’s needs. Caregivers would be matched based on those needed services and client preferences. Care would be scheduled around the client’s needs and any appointments. Communication would be prioritized, utilizing in-person, phone, email, and 24/7 digital platforms. There would be no long-term contracts, and no minimum number of care hours required per week.

In 2014, Sunlight Senior Care started in Lincoln Nebraska. As the word about our client-centered, in-home care approach spread, we began receiving inquiries from others with similar needs:

• In-home care for people with disabilities
• In-home care for persons returning home from a hospital or rehab facility
• In-home care for individuals with long-term illnesses

Inquiries were also increasing, particularly from the Omaha area, and we opened our Omaha office. Most recently we began serving Des Moines area clients with our proven approach.

At Sunlight Senior Care, we love to brighten seniors’ days. One of our favorite ways to do this is HAVING FUN! That’s why you’ll find us at Senior Centers and Senior Living Communities, presenting our acclaimed Seniors Rule Trivia games, calling out bingo numbers, or playing cards. In addition, you’ll see Sunlight supporting and sponsoring various events benefitting the elderly and disabled as well as our local Offices On Aging.

Care Co-Pilot is a program that blends traditional caregiving with the latest technology to raise the bar on the new standard of care. Sunlight Senior Care can now provide around the clock monitoring to help collect data, provide better care and outcomes. Due to cost, home care clients are often left with the option of having a caregiver come in for a few hours a day, and then praying that nothing happens until the caregiver returns.

Now with Sunlight Senior Care’s Care Co-Pilot program, we can provide reactive and proactive monitoring 24/7/365. Care Co-Pilot is constantly collecting data and then breaking down that data into 3 “buckets” so that we can than provide a bi-weekly summary that can be share with the care team. Through Care Co-Pilot we are able to address issues like possible cardiac issues, dehydration, low blood pressure, respiratory issues, confusion, sleep, and cognitive issues with the care TEAM quicker than traditional Home Care services. Care Co- Pilot also helps reduce Medication errors. When a fall happens, Care Co-Pilot will detect it and alert the care team in a timely manner.

Care Co- Pilot produces a Care Report every 2 weeks with real life data, to help families and the Care Team adjust care around what is going on with the client in real time. By being able to adjust the care in real time, Sunlight’s Care Co-Pilot is able to help reduce re-admissions.

That data is broken down into 2 types of data points:

• Proactive data– Data that needs immediate attention for the safety and well-being of the client.
• Reactive data– Data that helps our Care Co-Pilot TEAM adjust the Plan of Care in real-time.
