A one-size-fits-all approach works for some companies. It’s efficient. Deliver the same service to everybody. But it’s not what most elderly or disabled care recipients want. Our clients prefer (and rightfully expect) care tailored to their specific situations, needs, goals, and preferences. In other words, client-centered care. It’s different. And better.
At Sunlight Senior Care, we sit down with new clients and their families to discuss the care services they want. Together, we develop and agree upon a Personal Care Plan. It details the specific types of care to be provided. It’s a blueprint that provides direction for your caregiver, aligning everyone’s expectations.
Different
Client-centered care changes how care needs are viewed. “Light housekeeping” can be so much more than just a box to check off! When our homes are messy, we may become a bit depressed. Additionally, we might even choose to no longer invite people over, leading to feelings of isolation. A client-centered approach appreciates how having a neat and tidy home makes us feel.
Client-centered care is also reflected in the care provider’s business policies. For example, at Sunlight Senior Care there are no long-term contracts and no minimum number of care hours per week. Moreover, you have the flexibility to increase or decrease care services and adjust care schedules. There is also a 3-tier backup plan to provide dependable service. We provide clients with an after-hours phone number they can call to talk with a Sunlight team member, too.
Better
Client-centered care goes beyond tasks to be performed to understanding our client’s goals. “Meal preparation” can become an adventure in healthy eating. Similarly, providing rides to church can nourish the soul. With client-centered care, friendships form with the Caregiver(s). You see it in the smiles. Having someone to talk to and do activities with, someone who’s encouraging, supportive, and understanding, is an essential part of caring for the whole person.
Sunlight’s client-centered care. Why settle for less?
