She’s no longer paying $55 per hour. We recently welcomed a new client who told us she had been paying her former provider $55 per hour. While it’s hard to put a price tag on the value of the care services we provide, we also realize that such high fees put needed care out of the reach of many people.
Caring for the elderly at home need not be so expensive. There are only a few factors that affect our senior care cost:
- Care provided on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays is more expensive than on weekdays. As with many jobs, workers rightfully expect additional pay when working weekends and holidays. To keep senior care cost down, many of our clients choose to have their Caregivers only come on weekdays. Sunlight is also very flexible. Clients with a care shift that falls on a holiday may choose to have the Caregiver come the day before or the day after, avoiding the higher holiday rate.
- The level of care needed may impact the rates. Some clients have specialized care needs requiring caregivers with expertise in those needs. For example, a client with limited mobility who depends on a Hoyer lift to transfer in/out of bed.
- 2-hour care shifts are more expensive. While Sunlight Senior Care has no minimum number of care hours per week, we do have a minimum 2-hour-long care shift. Our standard rates apply to 3-hour and longer shifts. To keep costs down, most clients choose longer less frequent care shifts. For example, two 3-hour shifts per week rather than three 2-hour shifts.
Your rate(s) will be confirmed when we meet with you for your Care Assessment. Once your care needs are known and your desired care schedule is identified, we can give you the rate(s) for your care services. Please know, Sunlight Senior Care has chosen to price our services at the lower end of the spectrum so that more people are able to afford the care they need!
