We’ve helped lots of people wrestling with this question. Choosing to have an in-home Caregiver is a major decision. While everyone’s situation is different, consider the following:
- Are there things you or your loved one has difficulty with that a caregiver could do, such as assisting with meal prep, laundry, or cleaning?
- Is a chronic illness or injury limiting mobility?
- Are you seeing balance issues and concerned about falls?
- Could you or your loved one use assistance with bathing or getting on/off the toilet?
- Are you struggling with providing or arranging rides for grocery shopping or trips to the doctor?
- Have you noticed that sometimes prescription medications weren’t taken?
- Do you sometimes feel that having a friend to talk to would brighten you or your loved one’s day?
We often hear from clients who regret having “put off” looking into in-home care. Things didn’t get better. It was always on their mind. Looking into in-home elder care is a wise first step! At Sunlight, we will meet; assess care needs, preferences, and goals: answer any questions about in-home care; and together develop a Personal Care Plan tailored to you. There’s no cost to do this, nor is there any obligation.
